From 16 Stone to Ultra Marathon Runner

In 2015 I decided to change my life for the better, I weighed over 16 stone, smoked 40 cigarettes a day, drank frequently and lived off a diet of junk food and ready meals!

On January 2nd 2015 at the age of 31, I went for my first run… A 1 mile DOWNHILL stretch which left me wheezing, gasping for breath and walking back to the top. This didn’t put me off and over the next few months I continued by running 3-4 times a week adding a mile to the distance each week. Who knew then that in just 2 years time I’d be selected to run Ultra Marathons for my country.

I had caught the running bug BIG TIME!

With my new found love I began reading and researching every aspect of running, injury prevention, nutrition for speed and more. With this new knowledge I began testing it on myself and saw huge improvement gains.

I changed my diet a number of times throughout my journey and tested each nutrition strategy at different races to gain better knowledge and understanding and find the right formula to use long into the future.

I tried different strategies, took some nutrition courses, and gained lots of knowledge to better my performance, which I believe really paid off.
